Fishing experience at Gausta
Gausta offers great opportunities for lake fishing. Tinn municipality has approximately 800 different lakes with trout and arctic char. Many waters are open for angling if you have a fishing permit.
At Kvitåvatn, right by Gaustablikk, you can enjoy fishing year-round – both rod fishing in the summer and ice fishing in the winter.
Fishing Permit:
The fishing permit is valid for four different lakes: Kvitåvatn, Tjørnsettjønn, the northern parts of Djupetjønn, and the northern parts of Heddersvatn.
Getting there:
Kvitåvatn is centrally located at Gausta, right behind Gaustablikk Mountain Resort. You can park your car at the large parking lot at Gaustablikk.
Season:
Year-round.
On the eastern slopes of Gaustatoppen, you'll find Gausdalen – a beautiful valley at the foot of Gaustatoppen. Here, you can fish for trout in 12 different lakes.
Fishing Permit:
You can purchase fishing permits for the 12 lakes in Gausdalen at the Rjukan Tourist Office, Selstali Seter, or on inatur.no. The fishing permit is valid for fishing from the shore.
Getting There:
Gausdalen is most easily accessible by car. From Gausta, drive 30 km to Selstali Seter. Here, you can park your car – and then all 12 lakes are just a short walk away.
Season:
June 15th - August 31st.
